STATUS
Built
A home with a double purpose: living and working.
The artist spends many hours on his creative work, and cannot imagine being confined to a small, enclosed room.
Originally located in central A Coruña, the flat followed the typical layout of its time: enclosed, segregated rooms, long corridors, dark areas with minimal daylight.
Combined with the high ceilings, these proportions created narrow, elongated spaces that limited the full potential of the home.
A place without fixed routes — fluid, continuous, open to inspiration.
Inspiration can emerge anywhere, at any moment. Spatial freedom is total. A meticulously designed environment where an artist with no strict routine can find the ideal setting to explore creativity without limits.
To minimise enclosed rooms, a compact service band — with laundry and guest WC — is positioned at the centre, acting as a soft divider between day and night areas while liberating the rest of the space.
From the living kitchen, with its central island, to the studio-bedroom with its open en-suite, the home becomes a continuous, adaptable space shaped by the artist’s needs.
With this new arrangement and the naturally high ceilings, daylight flows in from every front, creating shifting atmospheres throughout the day.
